IRWIN Racing’s Mark Winterbottom is feeling confident after finishing final practice inside the top ten at the Mount Panorama 500.

Winterbottom had a solid day behind the wheel, placing 17th in the opening session on older tyres before moving into the top ten as the day progressed. The IRWIN Commodore sat in the top five for the majority of the session before many teams sent their cars out on fresh rubber.

Team 18 heads back on track at 9:05am tomorrow for a 20-minute qualifying session, followed by a top ten shootout at 12:10pm to set the grid for the first race of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship kicking off at 3:00pm.

“The track was quite loose and sketchy today but I feel we were quick,” said Mark Winterbottom.

“The car wasn’t quite as sharp as I wanted it to be, we made a change to help that at the end of the final session but didn’t put on new tyres for our last run.”

“Normally on a Bathurst weekend we’d have an extra day and a few more practice sessions to build up to speed, but today we only had two one-hour sessions and we go straight into qualifying tomorrow.”

“I’m feeling pretty happy and confident with where the car is at, but it’ll be a seriously tough session as it always is here to get a good lap in to make it into the shootout.”
