Team 18 will field a wildcard entry in the final round of the Cash Converters Supercars ESeries, with Tom Schwerkolt, son of team owner Charlie Schwerkolt, set to race against the stars of the Supercars Championship on the All Stars grid.

Schwerkolt will race a Holden ZB Commodore in the same IRWIN Racing livery used by Mark Winterbottom in the Repco Supercars Championship this year.

The 18-year old will join DEWALT Racing’s Scott Pye on the grid for the All Stars race at Watkins Glen, adding a third car to the team for the final round alongside Pye and pro-gamer Cooper Webster, who races for IRWIN Racing in the Pro ESeries.

Schwerkolt has grown up around the Supercars paddock, joining his father Charlie at several events on the calendar over the last decade.

The family acquired a racing simulator last year, with both father and son spending some time getting up to speed in the Supercars on the iRacing platform.

The All Stars will have a 19-lap race on Watkins Glen’s short layout for their final round, while the Pro ESeries finale will take place with a 12-lap race on the Hungaroring.

The final round of the Cash Converters Supercars ESeries will air live on Fox Sports 506, 7Plus and Kayo Sports from 7:30pm AEST on Wednesday 29 September, with qualifying commencing live from 7:00pm on the Supercars Facebook, Twitch and YouTube pages.

Charlie Schwerkolt, team owner – Team 18/IRWIN Racing/DEWALT Racing

“Since getting the sim last year, Tom has really taken a liking to having a steer behind the wheel and when the opportunity came up for a wildcard I said, “it’s your time to shine now, you have to have a go!”

“He will be in the deep end here and he will be pretty nervous mixing it up with Scotty [Pye] and the full-time Supercars stars, but obviously I’m very proud to see him having a go and I’ll be watching with excitement.”

“I’m really excited to race alongside the Supercar drivers virtually and proud to be racing for Team 18 with Frosty’s [Mark Winterbottom’s] livery,” said Tom.

“I’m keen to see how I go and I’m looking forward to a fun night on the sim!”
